Character Makeup Design

More than a purely technical function, the hair and makeup position is a creative role, designing characters and looks that can transport the audience to a particular time or place or create within them a particular emotional response.

In my designer role, I digest a script or storyboard carefully, I discuss with the creative production team the intended atmosphere and feeling for the audience, and I research authentic examples of relevant real-world influences through time. From here we can create the right hair and makeup based on the character and the practical limitations such as time, budget and location.
